Cooper/Clayton Method to Stop Smoking
Information on substance abuse disorders-HELP!

A 13-week program developed by a doctor and a dentist in Kentucky. Cooper/Clayton is offered throughout Kentucky. The program uses nicotine replacement therapy and group counseling with behavior modification.

Quit rates are:
1 year after program, 45% of program graduates are smoke free.
3 years after the program, 80% of nonsmokers at one year are smoke free.

Strengthening Families

This is a parent, youth and family skill-building curriculum for parents and youth 10-14 years old. Families will practice skills, learn and have fun together.

The program will help build family strengths, strengthen parenting skills and guide the youth in the prevention of teen substance abuse, negative peer pressure and other behavior problems.

Prime for Life in the Workplace Alcohol Education for Adults

Prime for Life for Adults is a 6- ˝ hour risk reduction program designed to reduce the risk of experiencing any type of alcohol or drug related problem at any point in life.

It helps adults examine their own alcohol choices and helps them better understand alcohol problems among co-workers, friends, and family members.

It is built on persuasive communication techniques shown effective in changing attitude and behaviors.

Suboxone Providers

SUBOXONE is the first opioid medication approved under DATA 2000 for the treatment of opioid dependence in an office-based setting. Suboxone at the appropriate dose may be used to reduce illicit opioid use and help patients stay in treatment by suppressing symptoms of opioid withdrawal and decreasing cravings for opioids.

Substance Abuse Wrap Around Services funding provided in part by United Way of Greater Cincinnati. This is a relatively new program for both agencies involved; it is a combination effort of us and Transtions, Inc. This relatively new service was officially started in 2007 with a collaborative funding from United Way. MHA-NKY is the primary agency and with funds from the grant purchase substance abuse treatment services from Transitions. We provide the supportive services, follow-up and after care. The purpose is to access treatment quickly for individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford or access substance abuse treatment services. Follow-up is focused on assisting the client to access housing and gain employment.

Dougherty House, 808 Scott Street Covington KY 41011 859-431-2531, Provides chemical dependency assessments, alcohol education classes, DUI program, intensive outpatient program and the “All About Work” job readiness program.

Non-Medical Detox, 925 Fifth Avenue Dayton KY 41074 859-291-1043, provides non-medical detoxification (11 beds – 8 male, 3 female) with a three-fold approach: admission/monitoring, education and assessment, and 12-Step involvement. When a bed is available, detoxification before treatment is recommended.

Droege House, 925 Fifth Avenue Dayton KY 41074 859-291-1045, a residential program for a maximum of 44 men, Kentucky residents who cannot obtain treatment elsewhere. Typically, it is a 90-day program consisting of three phases plus aftercare counseling. The aftercare counseling follows the completion of the 90-day program. Elements of the program include exposure to self-help groups, a relapse prevention approach, employment, community service, aftercare counseling and above all – hope.

Women’s Residential Addiction Program (WRAP), 1629 Madison Avenue Covington KY 41011 859-491-2090, a long-term residential program typically lasting for 90-days for addicted women and their children serving the indigent population of Northern KY. The program consists of three phases, plus aftercare which follows the completion of the 90-day program. Overall, the goal in treatment is to empower the residents to live a quality, clean, sober life. Treatment groups focus on making life style changes in the physiological, psychological, environmental, social and spiritual areas. There are also groups for children.

Grateful Life Center, 305 Pleasure Isle Drive Erlanger KY 41017 859-359-4500, a 9-month voluntary alcohol and other drug program, therapeutic community and long-term supportive housing program for residents committed to clean, sober and positive living. In this community, all residents learn to help each other through a “buddy system”, assisting those who have been in treatment for a shorter period than they have. Residents are assisted by staff, mentors, 12-step sponsors, the residents themselves, and community volunteers. The intense dedication of all those involved generates a positive attitude, which assists residents in their recovery and empowers and requires them to be good neighbors inside and outside the walls of the Grateful Life Center.

In Kentucky, Medicaid will pay for medical de-tox services for all substances. Unfortunately Medicaid will not pay for all other out-patient counseling programs for anyone (except for a few populations such as pregnant women).
